Park Beom-gye "Respect the Recommendation Committee's Result... Will Deliberate Carefully Before Nomination"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 29th, Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, said, "From now on, as the recommender, I will carefully consider the procedures entrusted to me," after the candidate for Prosecutor General was decided.
Minister Park made this remark while leaving the Ministry of Justice building and meeting with reporters, saying, "I respect the results of the recommendation committee." When asked if the outcome was different from his expectations, he replied, "It is difficult to comment in detail," and added, "I was informed that there was very active discussion in the Prosecutor General Candidate Recommendation Committee, and I respect the results," reiterating his stance.
Regarding the timing of the recommendation, he was reserved, saying, "Since it is a personnel process, it is difficult to explain in detail." In the legal community, there is speculation that one candidate will be recommended as early as the 30th or by early next week at the latest.

The Prosecutor General Candidate Recommendation Committee selected four final candidates through examination and voting on the day: Kim Oh-soo (20th Judicial Research and Training Institute class), former Vice Minister of Justice; Koo Bon-seon (23rd class), Chief Prosecutor of Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office; Bae Seong-beom (23rd class), Director of the Judicial Research and Training Institute; and Cho Nam-gwan (24th class), Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. Minister Park will recommend one of them to President Moon Jae-in. Lee Seong-yoon, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, who had been considered a strong contender, was not included among the candidates.
