View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) held a kickoff meeting for a research project on the 27th to create a smart city, officially embarking on a comprehensive and systematic research project to promote smart city initiatives.
Since the launch of the 7th local government, the district has been promoting various projects aimed at creating a ‘smart city’ that becomes smarter alongside its people by improving residents' quality of life through solving various urban problems using 4th Industrial Revolution technologies such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data.
This research project involves establishing a mid- to long-term master plan for building a smart city infrastructure, with a total project cost of 208 million KRW, to be conducted over eight months.
It will set mid- to long-term visions and promotion strategies through a basic survey of the overall status of the district and analysis of smart city project cases.
Additionally, the plan is to discover smart city services that residents can tangibly experience and that provide practical benefits, and to establish a mid- to long-term roadmap aligned with the national government's smart city policies.
Furthermore, it will prepare plans for linking and integrating dispersed smart city services, propose response measures for each smart city indicator, and discover various projects to prepare for central government and Seoul city public contests.
To this end, the ‘Gwanak-gu Smart City Mid- to Long-term Master Plan Promotion TF Working Group,’ composed of project managers from various related fields, has been formed to strive for project discovery. The advice of the Smart City Policy Advisory Committee, established last year, will also be actively incorporated.
