[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors (Chairman: Dobong-gu Mayor Lee Dong-jin) held its 159th regular meeting on the 28th at 9 a.m., with the participation of the mayors (and deputy mayors) of all 25 districts of Seoul.
This regular meeting was conducted as a non-face-to-face video conference due to the difficulty of holding in-person meetings amid the strengthened Level 2 social distancing measures in the metropolitan area.
At the 158th regular meeting, the council deliberated and approved five major agenda items adopted for discussion with the Seoul Metropolitan Government: ▲Improvement of ventilation system standards to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks ▲Re-adjustment of the subsidy ratio for welfare center operation support ▲Support for the suspension of labor costs for Seoul-style urban gardens ▲Increase in local subsidies for snow removal measures ▲Improvement of meal support projects for children suffering from food insecurity.
Additionally, discussions were held on Seoul Metropolitan Government cooperation matters including ▲Measures to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates ▲Cooperation in operating autonomous district life treatment centers ▲Cooperation on property tax reduction measures ▲Cooperation with towing and storage facilities following the implementation of shared PM towing measures.
Meanwhile, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Administrative Deputy Mayor Jo In-dong, and other executives attended the meeting, exchanging greetings and welcoming the district mayors, and requested their smooth cooperation regarding real estate and property tax reduction measures.

Lee Dong-jin, Chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Council of District Mayors (Dobong-gu Mayor), said, “Although this is the first regular meeting held together since the inauguration of the Seoul Mayor amid the serious situation of COVID-19, I hope that the Seoul Metropolitan Government and autonomous districts will respect each other and cooperate sufficiently for the development of city administration and district governance.”
