The S-Class is a model embodying the philosophy and technology of Mercedes-Benz, having sold over 4 million units worldwide since its first launch in 1951.
The 7th generation fully redesigned S-Class, The new S-Class, was first revealed through a digital world premiere last September and was launched in Korea on this day.
Perfect Exterior Design Befitting the Icon of Luxury Flagship Sedans
The new S-Class is the first to apply DIGITAL LIGHT.
DIGITAL LIGHT features a high-resolution lighting system equipped with a projection module consisting of over 1.3 million pixels per headlamp and 84 high-performance multi-beam LED modules. Based on real-time data collected through cameras, sensors, and navigation, the brightness of individual headlamp pixels is adjusted optimally for driving, supporting safer driving.
The chrome-surrounded front radiator and large air intakes symbolically express the status of the S-Class and give a strong personality to the front impression. The company emphasized that the short front overhang, long wheelbase, and balanced rear overhang present the perfect proportions of a classic sedan form.
Advanced elements including a multifunctional camera, AR (Augmented Reality) navigation camera, 360-degree front camera, and mid-to-long-range radar are also extensively installed at the front of the vehicle. Compared to the previous model, the standard wheelbase has increased by 81mm and the long wheelbase by 51mm, securing a more spacious and comfortable interior.
The most eye-catching feature inside is the large display located at the center and instrument cluster. The clear 12.8-inch OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) central display allows intuitive control of the vehicle and convenience functions regardless of viewing angle or lighting conditions.
The 12.3-inch 3D instrument cluster at the driver's seat provides key driving information at a glance and monitors the driver's eyelid movements with a built-in camera. When driving at speeds above 20 km/h, if a risk is detected, visual and audio warning signals help prevent drowsy driving.
The rear seats of the S 580 4MATIC model come standard with the chauffeur package, transforming the space into a comfortable resting area or an office on the road according to passenger needs. The chauffeur package includes moving the front passenger seat forward by up to 37mm, as well as folding functions for the passenger seat and headrest, providing rear passengers with more space and better visibility.
Powerful and Efficient Powertrain, Innovative Suspension
The new S 350 d and the new S 400 d 4MATIC, equipped with a powerful 3.0-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine, deliver a maximum output of 286 horsepower and maximum torque of 61.2 kg.m, and 330 horsepower and 71.4 kg.m respectively, offering sporty acceleration and agile response.
The new S 580 4MATIC is equipped with the V8 gasoline engine M176, which delivers powerful performance and maximum efficiency. Featuring two turbochargers located in the inner V, a second-generation integrated starter generator, and intelligent cylinder deactivation technology, it produces a maximum output of 503 horsepower and maximum torque of 71.4 kg.m, with an additional 20 horsepower boost.
The entire new S-Class lineup comes standard with AIRMATIC suspension, providing a comfortable ride in any road environment.
All models in the lineup are equipped with the state-of-the-art driving assistance system, the Driving Assistance Package, as standard. Various sensors including cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors record the surroundings and recognize vehicles, moving objects, and pedestrians over a wider range than before.
