At this Data Special Committee meeting, Chairman Yoon Seong-ro, private sector members, and government members discussed tasks to revitalize the data industry proposed by the private sector. The Data Special Committee is composed of the General Subcommittee, Production and Opening Subcommittee, Distribution and Transaction Subcommittee, Protection and Utilization Subcommittee, MyData Subcommittee, and Legal and Institutional TF, and is currently operating.
The task of activating data platforms concerns creating an ecosystem where data gathers on various public and private data platforms and users actively participate. It seeks ways for data platforms to settle in the market and sustain growth.
The use of pseudonymized information was also discussed. Although the three data laws for the use and combination of pseudonymized information were amended and enforced in August last year, the utilization performance has been minimal compared to expectations even after eight months. Private experts focused on reviewing policy improvement tasks.
The issue of opening business registration numbers was also discussed. Among the data with high demand for use and consistently requested to be opened by the private sector, the reasons why business registration numbers have not been sufficiently opened and the legal issues were examined. Plans to actively open them in the future so that companies can use them effectively were also discussed.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare reported the healthcare data standardization roadmap at this Data Special Committee meeting. This includes enhancing the efficiency of medical services and promoting the activation of the medical industry through the introduction and dissemination of international terminology and technical standards related to healthcare. Based on this standardization roadmap, the Ministry plans to complete healthcare data standardization by 2035.
The Data Special Committee plans to submit the tasks reviewed and discussed at this 2nd meeting as agenda items for deliberation at the full meeting of the 4th Industrial Revolution Committee after collecting additional opinions from related ministries and private experts.
