"Exclusive 'Eggschool Kindergarten' Offering" LG Uplus Upgrades U+ Idle Nara 4.0
Launch of Subscription Service 'Eggschool Kindergarten' Using Kindergarten Curriculums in 10 US States
Provides Automatic Playback and Quiz Service of iCheongdam Language Academy Content Tailored to English Levels
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 27th that it has added the English subscription service ‘Eggschool Kindergarten’ to U+ Idle Nara and conducted a full update of the user experience (UX) with ‘U+ Idle Nara 4.0’.
Eggschool Kindergarten is a homeschooling English subscription service created by the production team of the premium English brand ‘English Egg.’ It is exclusively available on U+tv, and for 59,800 KRW per month (with a 12-month contract), subscribers receive premium textbooks and videos every month reflecting the curriculum of kindergartens in 10 major U.S. states with high educational enthusiasm, including Connecticut and Virginia.
When children use the Uppi Pen, the dedicated remote control for U+ Idle Nara, to scan the Eggschool Kindergarten textbooks, related videos play on the TV, allowing them to naturally learn English through various daily life situations. Subscribing to the one-year package provides a total of 48 storybooks, 144 videos, 48 types of activity materials, 12 song and audio cards, and an Eggschool Pen.
The English kindergarten function has also been updated. In the level-based learning menu, when children take the English level test based on YBM J-Kids, videos based on the weekly updated iCheongdam Language Academy curriculum are played according to the child’s English level. After watching all the videos, the ‘Hello Carry Quiz Show’ follows, where children can review English words and expressions through quizzes, enabling a natural learning effect.
Additionally, by activating the notification reception function, the character Uppi appears midway to provide recommended content, services, and coupon information from U+ Idle Nara. Notably, this update includes improvements such as the addition of a playback lock function for ‘YouTube Kids’ to address inconveniences. A feature to create and play playlists by selecting videos that children like and watch frequently has also been added, greatly enhancing convenience.
Furthermore, it is now possible to change the background music of U+ Idle Nara, watch channels that continuously play popular character videos children enjoy directly from the ‘Idle Channel,’ and a search function has been added to the main screen for easier text and voice searches. The U+ Idle Nara 4.0 update will be first applied to UHD3 set-top boxes in April and will be sequentially rolled out to UHD2, soundbars, and others starting in June.
Meanwhile, LG Uplus has distributed a free booklet called ‘Idle Nara Touch’ at 2,200 stores nationwide, which clearly explains the content available to everyone on U+ Idle Nara. Idle Nara Touch introduces various educational and play contents from the Nuri curriculum recommended by kindergarten teachers, and by touching with the Uppi Pen, users can watch the content immediately on U+tv. The April issue features the theme ‘Nature,’ introducing diverse content about plants and animals, and provides conversation topics to share with children through carefully selected home play videos and books. Idle Nara Touch is available on a first-come, first-served basis every month at LG Uplus stores nationwide.
