On the 26th, MBC's "News Desk" reported that it had obtained CCTV footage of the assault that occurred on the afternoon of the 22nd in the first-floor entrance of an apartment in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
Reviewing the footage obtained by MBC, it was actually the perpetrator who first stared intently at the elderly man.
When the elevator stopped and the doors opened, the elderly man slightly bowed his head and exited the elevator, walking away.
Then, a man wearing a mask on his chin stared intently at the elderly man. He was a well-built man over 180 cm tall.
This man even turned his body toward the elderly man and did not get on the elevator.
The man followed the elderly man from the apartment elevator to the entrance and carried out an indiscriminate assault.
The elderly man suffered fractures to his face, head, and arm bones, and even after four days, bleeding from his nose and ears has not stopped.
The elderly man’s facial fractures are so severe that he can barely speak a few words.
The victim’s family said, "His face is a mess from so much bleeding. It’s beyond a mess," adding, "He was stepped on. They laid him down and stepped on his head, causing blood to flow inside his ears, it’s a disaster."
According to MBC, residents agreed that the perpetrator’s threatening behavior was not a first occurrence.
When a delivery worker rang the doorbell, the perpetrator came out wielding a weapon or verbally abused residents without reason.
One delivery worker said, "(A colleague) rang the bell, and this perpetrator came out saying something like 'someone is threatening me' while holding a weapon. A kitchen knife," adding, "The person who did that before was so scary that I ran away up the stairs."
One resident said, "When I was going up the stairs, he cursed at me. So I said, 'What?' Because I was scared, I went up."
Witnesses who saw the assault are trembling with fear at the thought of encountering the perpetrator again.
Investigations revealed that the perpetrator was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crime.
