Wang Jinjin, Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison in First Trial for Fraud and Embezzlement, Files Appeal
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Wang Jin-jin (real name Jeon Jun-ju), who was sentenced to prison for assaulting pop artist and broadcaster Nancy Lang and for fraud and embezzlement, has appealed the first trial verdict.
According to the legal community on the 26th, Wang submitted an appeal to the court on the 23rd. Wang was indicted on charges including embezzlement, injury, and violation of the Act on the Punishment of Domestic Violence, and was sentenced to six years in prison in the first trial.
Wang was indicted in August 2017 for embezzlement, accused of receiving hundreds of pieces of pottery without paying for them, and was subsequently indicted on multiple counts of fraud, injury to Nancy Lang, and violation of the Act on the Punishment of Domestic Violence. The court consolidated the seven cases against Wang for trial.

The first trial court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "The fraud offenses and the amount of damage reached several hundred million won, and the crimes were serial. Considering the nature and method of the violence committed against the victim, who is the spouse, the responsibility is significant."
