[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Ewha Womans University announced on the 26th that it ranked first among domestic universities for two consecutive years in the gender equality category of the THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings by the UK higher education evaluation agency THE.
The THE World University Rankings is considered one of the top three global university rankings and established the Impact Rankings in 2019. It evaluates how much effort universities are making toward the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ewha Womans University ranked first among domestic universities for two consecutive years in the ‘Gender Equality’ category of the Impact Rankings this year as well as last year. It also ranked 82nd in the global university rankings, being the only domestic university to have an individual ranking announced.
The gender equality category measures universities' research performance on gender equality, the proportion of women in senior positions, and anti-discrimination policies, serving as an indicator to understand universities' social responsibility in realizing a gender-equal society. Ewha Womans University was established in 1886 as the first modern women's educational institution in Korea and currently has about 24,000 enrolled students and approximately 1,000 faculty members.
