"Yukgun Gwangyejaya" 50-Year-Old Man Arrested for Assaulting Military Police at US Military Base
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A man in his 50s who assaulted conscripted police officers on guard duty at the Yongsan US military base has been arrested.
According to the police on the 26th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul arrested a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on the spot around 1 a.m. in front of Gate 3 of the US 8th Army base in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Mr. A assaulted two members of the Seodaemun Police Station's crime prevention patrol unit who were on guard duty. He is accused of obstructing official duties by repeatedly slapping the conscripted police officers' cheeks and kicking their shins.
At the time, Mr. A was intoxicated. It is reported that he assaulted them because "the officers did not respond quickly to his questions." Mr. A also claimed to be "related to the army," but this was later confirmed to be false.
