View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] On the 26th, Park Jong-won, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeongsangnam-do, visited STX Engine, a specialized manufacturer of diesel engines for ships and defense industries, to discuss measures to revitalize the local shipbuilding equipment and defense industries, STX Engine announced.
On this day, Park Ki-moon, CEO of STX Engine, explained the reality of being dominated by companies from other regions when constructing public vessels in the province, and requested support so that equipment from local companies could be applied. He also proposed expanding public-private cooperation for the development and dissemination of eco-friendly ship-related technologies in the province, supporting related development, fostering greenhouse gas reduction technology (carbon dioxide capture) projects, and supporting the defense industry.
Deputy Governor Park said, "Regarding the expansion of public-private cooperation for the development and dissemination of eco-friendly ship technologies, we will jointly strive for the preliminary feasibility approval from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance for the full-cycle innovation technology development project for eco-friendly ships, and the province plans to actively promote the eco-friendly smart shipbuilding project as a core strategic industry."

He also stated that regarding the fostering of greenhouse gas reduction technology projects, mediation support will be provided to enable win-win outcomes through strategic alliances among companies with excellent technology in the province, and in consultation with related departments, the application of equipment from local companies with price and quality competitiveness will be reviewed when constructing eco-friendly vessels for local government offices.
