[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will take the lead in improving the treatment of private social welfare facility workers by providing customized welfare points starting this year.
Recently, the need for support measures for social welfare facilities has been highlighted due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Experts point out that although there has been a rapid shift to non-face-to-face services in social welfare facilities, an increase in small-scale programs, and excessive workload for social welfare workers due to the mixture of face-to-face and non-face-to-face services caused by COVID-19, support for social welfare facilities has not been smoothly provided.
Accordingly, the district has launched customized welfare point support for the first time this year to reduce wage gaps and improve working conditions for private social welfare facility workers so that residents can receive higher quality welfare services.
The target for customized welfare point support is workers who have worked for more than one year as of April 19 this year at social welfare facilities located in the area that receive operational support funds from the national or local governments.
The customized welfare points to be provided will be given as Yeongdeungpo Love Gift Certificates worth 200,000 KRW per person. Workers can receive support through applications submitted by the welfare facilities to which they belong. The supported welfare points can be used for medical expenses, family-friendly dining expenses, cultural activity expenses, and more.
The application period is until the 28th of this month. For application methods, please refer to the ‘Notices/Announcements’ section on the district office website. Applications are being accepted via email (201108033@ydp.go.kr).
Submitted documents will undergo a first document review and a second subsidy review, with final selection and support scheduled for May.
