First Civilian Appointment as Head of Children's Museum
Kwack Sin-sook, Former Director of Education and Public Relations at Museum Management Research Institute Seoul Sangsangnara
On the 25th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the appointment of Kwak Sin-sook, former head of education and public relations at the Museum Management Research Institute Seoul Sangsangnara, as the head of the National Museum of Korea Children's Museum. Kwak holds a master's degree in arts from Dankook University and a doctorate in museum education from Hanyang University. She has worked at the Samsung Children's Museum under the Samsung Cultural Foundation, the Graduate School of Education at Seoul National University of Education, and the Korean Museum Education Association. This is the first time that a cultural and artistic talent has been recruited to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism through government civilian talent acquisition support. Going forward, Director Kwak will establish the mid- to long-term plans for the Children's Museum and oversee the development of exhibition content and the operation of experiential exhibitions. She stated, "We will develop education to foster children's creativity and sensitivity, and establish and expand non-face-to-face exhibitions and virtual experience platforms."
