This was a de facto brake applied by Kim on the ruling Democratic Party's rapid discussion of 'comprehensive real estate tax relief' following their crushing defeat in the April 7 by-elections, stating, "There are principles that our government has maintained so far."
On the morning of the same day, Kim met with reporters on his way to the Financial Supervisory Service Training Institute in Jongno-gu, Seoul, saying, "I will watch the discussions in the National Assembly, the representative institution of the people."
He added, "The 2.4 measures have been announced so far, and while the supply part plays a positive role, there must be reasons for setting the other tax measures as they are." This appears to be a more specific expression of his opinion on the recently heated debate in the National Assembly regarding the easing of the comprehensive real estate tax. He also added, "If this topic comes up during the confirmation hearing, I will answer sincerely."
Meanwhile, regarding concerns that the fourth wave of COVID-19 is becoming a reality with the number of confirmed cases expected to approach 800, he responded, "The fastest way at present is for the government and the people to unite and overcome this together."
