Uljin County Governor Jeon Chan-geol Visits National Assembly: "Expressway Between Yeongdeok and Samcheok Must Be Built"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Jeon Chan-geol, Governor of Uljin County, Gyeongbuk, visited the National Assembly on the 22nd to explain the poor local transportation network situation and requested persuasion and support from related ministries for SOC projects such as highways.
On the same day, Governor Jeon met sequentially with National Assembly members Park Hyung-soo, Kim Hee-guk, and Joo Ho-young to propose the inclusion of the Yeongdeok~Samcheok highway construction plan and the allocation of 1 billion KRW in national funds for basic survey work, as well as the inclusion of the Central Region East-West Transversal Railway construction in the 4th National Railway Network Construction Plan.
He also emphasized the necessity of adjusting and increasing the total project cost to straighten the route of the Yeongyang~Pyeonghae national road construction project.
Jeon Chan-geol, Governor of Uljin County, stated, "Building transportation infrastructure is urgently needed to become a representative city for regional development and tourism," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that SOC projects are reflected through close cooperation with National Assembly members and central government ministries."

Meanwhile, among the entire East Coast section from Busan to Sokcho, only the 118 km section between Pohang Yeongdeok and Samcheok has yet to have a detailed project plan. Apart from this section, construction is underway on the 31 km section between Pohang Heunghae and Yeongdeok, with completion targeted for 2023.
