Sports Podcast 'Spot' Adds Family Feature to Create Communication Channel Among Users
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] LCC (CEO Park Youngwoong), the developer and service provider, and COWON (CEO Lee Seunghoon), the publisher, announced on the 22nd that the sports specialized broadcasting platform ‘Spot’ has added a ‘Family’ feature through an update.
Launched in March last year, ‘Spot’ has become a mobile live broadcasting platform by streaming all games of the four major professional sports leagues in Korea live, and this year it is evolving into a platform where anyone can easily and conveniently create their own broadcasts beyond just live game streaming.
With direct attendance and cheering at stadiums difficult due to COVID-19, cheerleaders and cheering leaders from major professional sports teams have provided sports fans with another kind of online cheering experience through ‘Spot,’ drawing positive responses from users.
This year as well, representative cheerleader Park Giryang and popular cheerleaders from each team such as An Jihyun (both from Lotte), Jung Dahye, Cha Younghyun (both from LG), continue online cheering and personal broadcasts, maintaining communication with users. In addition, the types of broadcasts are gradually diversifying as users themselves conduct golf broadcasts, game broadcasts, etc., and the number of users broadcasting is steadily increasing.
The newly added Family feature is a channel prepared for user communication, allowing users who share common interests such as sports or SJ (Sports Jockey) to create Families and share their interests with each other.
Family membership is limited to a maximum of two per user to reduce indiscriminate and meaningless sign-ups and to ensure that users with genuine intentions to communicate can participate.
Also, within each created Family, positive competition is encouraged by reflecting the contribution levels of Family members to raise the Family’s level, adding various fun elements.
Park Youngwoong, CEO of Spot, said, “Although we have been encouraging user communication through the in-app community feature, we added the Family feature to further relieve the communication thirst among users with common interests and to facilitate information sharing. The reason we named this feature ‘Family’ is because we hope users actively communicate as one family under common interests and develop the Family. We expect that communication and information sharing among users will become more active through the Family feature.”
