Jeju Fire Station "Spring Heating Appliance Fires Occur, Please Inspect in Advance"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Fire Station has urged caution regarding heating equipment fires due to the sudden cold snap following the warm spring weather.
According to the Jeju Fire Station on the 22nd, a fire broke out early the previous day near a wood-fired boiler and firewood in Wolpyeong-dong.
The Jeju Fire Station estimates that sparks spread to nearby combustible materials based on statements that the fuel tank door was left half-open while using the wood-fired boiler.
Recently, fires involving wood heating devices, electric heaters, and electric mats have occurred frequently, requiring residents' attention.
In particular, the fire department advised that wood heating devices should undergo regular inspections by professional companies, and users should carefully check to prevent sparks from flying at the boiler joints during use.
Additionally, electric mats should be stored rolled up, not folded, to avoid damaging internal heating wires, and heating devices should be kept at least 2 meters away from surrounding combustible materials during use.
