Consumer Agency Warns of Fire Risk in Electrophos Vehicle Black Box Auxiliary Batteries
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The Korea Consumer Agency and the National Institute of Technology and Standards recommended on the 22nd to immediately stop using certain models of vehicle black box auxiliary batteries made by Electroforce due to fire incidents.
The affected models are three types of vehicle black box auxiliary batteries from the company, totaling 6,707 units, shipped between November 2, last year, and January 21 of this year. The model names are PoseuZero DF-10plus (2,117 units), DF-15 (70 units), and DF-15plus (4,520 units).
So far, about 10 fire incidents related to these products have been identified in locations such as Suwon and Gapyeong in Gyeonggi Province, Jecheon in Chungbuk, and Dalseong in Daegu.
The National Institute of Technology and Standards has launched an investigation into the cause of the incidents and plans to take recall measures such as product collection if defects are confirmed. The manufacturer voluntarily took corrective actions such as free exchanges for products with fire risk starting January 22 of this year but went out of business on the 29th of last month.
