NIA Selected as ITU Global Excellence in ICT Education Institution
Selected as an Excellent Institution in the Mid-term Education Operation Evaluation Report
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The National Information Society Agency (NIA) of Korea announced on the 21st that it was selected as an excellent institution in the mid-term education operation evaluation conducted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for 29 top-level education centers (CoE) worldwide.
NIA was designated as the top-level education center for ICT applications in the Asia-Pacific region in 2018 and was selected as an excellent institution in this mid-term evaluation.
Over the past two years, NIA developed courses on topics such as 'Digital Transformation and Digital Government,' 'Government Innovation Using Latest Technologies,' and 'Smart Cities for Resilience' to share Korea's outstanding digital policies with countries around the world in the era of digital transformation, providing education to 1,079 people from 105 countries.
As group education became difficult due to the spread of COVID-19, NIA quickly switched to online education, expanding educational opportunities to 105 countries. The number of education participants also increased from 193 in 2019 to 886 in 2020.
This year, to contribute to the development of public administration and services worldwide, NIA plans to develop online courses and offer them through the ITU Online Academy platform in August and September.
Dorin Bogdan-Martin, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, stated, "We appreciate NIA for providing high-quality courses to ITU member countries so far, and we ask that you continue to distribute excellent educational programs to member countries."
