Song Young-gil: "Boldly Relocate 112 Public Institutions to Local Areas"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] Song Young-gil, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, stated, "I will boldly relocate 112 public institutions currently in the metropolitan area to local regions."
On the 20th, at the joint speech event for Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Jeju held at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju, Candidate Song said, "People are flocking to the metropolitan area, causing housing prices to skyrocket, while local areas face the risk of extinction," adding, "If I become party leader, I will launch a task force with the party and government to prepare for the second phase of relocating public institutions to local areas."
He continued, "There are a total of 112 public institutions remaining in the metropolitan area, including financial public enterprises," and emphasized, "We will listen to the public's opinions and promote relocation through bipartisan agreement to places that align with regional development strategies. We will proceed boldly and thoroughly."
Candidate Song also stated, "I will not leave the relocation of the Gwangju military airport as a regional conflict issue," and said, "Through the 'Special Act on Support for Military Airport Relocation,' we will provide definite incentives and help ensure proper regional development."
He also promoted the Democratic Party's 'competent reform.' Candidate Song appealed, "We must innovate with the attitude of keeping only the name of the Democratic Party and changing everything else," adding, "The choice of Gwangju and Jeonnam is the choice of the Democratic Party, the choice of the Republic of Korea, and the choice of history. The path to competent reform and regime re-creation begins with choosing Song Young-gil."
