Sangju City Receives 'Best' Rating in Gyeongbuk FTA Fault Support Project Evaluation... "Unified Distribution Channel"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Sangju City announced on the 20th that it was selected as the best city in the 2021 Fruit Production and Distribution Support Project evaluation by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.
Gyeongbuk Province annually evaluates the support status for basic local governments as part of the FTA (Free Trade Agreement) High-Quality Fruit Facility Modernization Project (FTA Project). Last year, Sangju City invested 18.7 billion KRW in the FTA Project, focusing on major fruit items such as apples, pears, grapes, and peaches.
In this evaluation, Sangju received high marks for implementing support for essential production infrastructure for farms, such as rain shelters, irrigation facilities, well development, and variety renewal, in accordance with the guidelines.
Additionally, the Sangju City Cooperative Joint Business Corporation, an organization promoting mountain area distribution, unified distribution channels and conducted joint marketing together with local agricultural cooperatives, which also had a positive impact. As a result, Sangju City will receive 20% more budget support for the 2022 FTA Project.

Mayor Kang Young-seok of Sangju City stated, "We will do our best to promote the FTA Project to modernize fruit production infrastructure, reduce agricultural management costs, improve the quality of agricultural products, and secure domestic and international distribution markets, thereby contributing to increasing farmers' income."
