First, in 2019, with the purpose of improving the parking environment under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's project, 2.4 billion KRW including national funds was invested to establish a two-story above-ground public parking lot behind the county office, capable of accommodating 102 vehicles. The county office public parking lot operates free of charge 24 hours a day.
Also in 2019, Wando was selected for the residential environment improvement project, a public contest by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and invested a total of 2.6 billion KRW to create a public parking lot with 108 spaces at Wando Traditional Market (5-day market).
The establishment of the Wando Traditional Market public parking lot has not only resolved parking difficulties on market days but also eradicated illegal roadside parking, improving vehicle flow.
In March, due to the narrow parking spaces at the plaza parking lot in front of the county office, the parking lot was completely paved and expanded to 124 parking spaces. Additionally, land near the Wando County Council was purchased and is being used as a temporary parking lot.
The public parking lot near Hyundai Apartment is planned to have a parking tower built through a public contest project, and a temporary parking lot accommodating about 70 vehicles was established near Jinarichae Apartment.
Furthermore, parking spaces have been secured at Wando Swimming Pool, Central Market, and Namhyang-ri to alleviate residents' inconvenience. The county plans to continue promoting parking environment improvement projects.
In 2018, by being selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's regional revitalization public contest project, Wando secured 6 billion KRW in full national funding to create a multipurpose parking lot on the site around the former Cheonghae Market.
The multipurpose parking lot will be equipped with 106 parking spaces by the end of this year, having completed the purchase of the former Cheonghae Market site, gateball court, and the land in front of Wando County Post Office.
To resolve parking difficulties at the sports park where a multipurpose indoor gymnasium will be built, 2.4 billion KRW is being invested to construct a new parking tower capable of accommodating 221 vehicles.
The temporary parking lot on the former KEPCO office site, which currently accommodates 40 vehicles, will be expanded by investing 2.6 billion KRW to build a three-story above-ground parking tower with 148 spaces.
To alleviate parking difficulties around Mudeung Apartment, where shops and academies are concentrated, plans to build a parking tower utilizing idle land through a public contest project are under review.
