Yeongsangang Regional Environmental Office Conducts Low-Carbon Lifestyle Activities for 'Earth Day'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office announced on the 19th that it will carry out various low-carbon practice activities to reduce greenhouse gases in daily life from the 22nd to the 28th, marking the 51st Earth Day.
The Yeongsangang Office has designated this period as Climate Change Week to raise awareness of the climate crisis and lead practical actions to reduce greenhouse gases by presenting various events.
During the event period, if participants upload certification photos of low-carbon lifestyle habits on the official Yeongsangang Office Facebook page, a small gift will be given to selected participants through a draw.
The photos should include actions such as unplugging unused electronic devices, using water-saving showerheads, and using public transportation.
On the 26th, climate change environmental education for elementary school students and a hands-on program called "Making My Own Flowerpot" for young children will be provided, implementing carbon-neutral programs in daily life tailored to their level.
On Earth Day itself, carbon reduction events such as operating a green diet day, turning off lights, and using public transportation during commuting hours will be held to promote climate action.
The Yeongsangang Office will also hold a cleanup event at Jangnok Wetland together with related organizations to reaffirm the importance of carbon sinks and build consensus on the need for protection.
Fifty officials from Gwangju Metropolitan City, Gwangsan District Office, and the Wildlife Management Association, among others, will participate in this event.
