Gangbuk-gu Removes Ownerless Signs for Free
Abandoned Signboards, Illegal Advertisement Removal to Prevent Accidents and Improve Urban Environment... Easing Burden on Small Business Owners Hit Hard by COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Kyum-soo) will remove old signs left unattended free of charge to prevent safety accidents.
The application targets signs left unattended for a long time without management due to reasons such as business closure, or protruding and wall-used advertisements exceeding legal standards. These signs have posed significant safety concerns as they were left unattended without managers.
In particular, with the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the number of abandoned signs has increased as business closures and relocations have risen. To avoid imposing economic burdens on small business owners hit hard by COVID-19, the district office decided to support the removal costs.
Small business owners newly moving into closed establishments can visit the district office's Architecture Division or submit the 'Removal Service Application and Consent Form' by fax (02-901-5543). The application form can be downloaded from the district office website (Civil Service Window - Civil Service Application - Free Sign Removal Application).
Upon receiving a removal request, the district office will visit the site to conduct a field survey and individually notify the applicant of the detailed schedule. For other inquiries, please contact the Advertising Maintenance Team of the Architecture Division at the district office.
