Dongjak-gu Launches 'Walking Along the Hangang Challenge'
Starting from Soongsil University Station ▲Seodal Mountain ▲Dongjak Chungyo-gil ▲Passing Yongyang Bongjeojeong Arriving at Mapo Station Course... Any Seoul citizen can easily participate by downloading the 'WalkOn' app on their smartphone... Challenge until the end of April
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is conducting the 'Walking Alone Along the Hangang Challenge' until the end of April to overcome COVID-19 blues and promote walking exercise, encouraging resident-led health management practices.
'The best medicine is walking.'
As Hippocrates said about 2,500 years ago, walking has long been known as the best way to maintain health.
The walking challenge route is the ‘Hangang Walking Course 8,’ starting from Soongsil University Station, passing through Seodal Mountain Phytoncide Forest, Dongjak Chung-hyo-gil Forest Library, Yongyang Bongjeo Pavilion, Hangang Bridge, and ending at Mapo Station.
Crossing the Hangang Bridge, which has a wide pedestrian walkway ideal for strolling, participants can find comfort in the encouraging phrases written on the railings. Walking alone along the forest path from Gogudongsan to Seodal Mountain allows one to fully experience a communion with nature.
Anyone can freely participate by downloading the ‘WalkOn’ app on their smartphone and clicking on ‘Walking Alone Along the Hangang Course 8.’
After completing the challenge, 200 participants will be selected by lottery to receive a physical activity kit containing items such as a sprout massage tool, massage ball, latex band, and exercise information booklet.
The results will be announced via individual text messages in the second week of May.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Health Planning Division of Dongjak-gu Public Health Center.
