Board of Audit and Inspection: "7% of LH Regular Employees Are Relatives of Executives"... Also Hiring Requests
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] It was recently revealed that a significant number of LH employees who were converted from non-regular to regular positions following the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) audit conducted by the Board of Audit and Inspection two years ago were relatives of executives and staff.
According to data obtained from LH by Shim Sang-jung, a member of the Justice Party on the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, the Board of Audit and Inspection's 2019 investigation into the "Employment Hereditary Practices in Public Institutions" found that among approximately 1,300 employees converted to regular positions, 93 (6.9%) were relatives of executives and staff.
The Board of Audit and Inspection specified that among these, 5 cases involved hiring requests from executives and staff during the recruitment process. There were also cases where a regional headquarters chief arranged the hiring of a vice president's daughter, or a center chief served as an interviewer on the panel for his sibling's application and gave the highest score.
