New Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Nominee: 'Planning and Budget Expert' Former Office for Government Policy Coordination Chief Noh Hyung-wook

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Former Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Noh Hyung-wook (photo) was nominated on the 16th as the new Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Noh, the newly appointed minister, was born in 1962 and graduated from Gwangju Jeil High School and Yonsei University with a degree in Political Science and Diplomacy. He completed a master's course in International Economics at Sciences Po in Paris, France. He is regarded as an expert in planning and budgeting from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
He passed the 30th Administrative Examination and has consistently worked as a public official in budgeting and finance, serving as Director of Budget Standards at the Planning and Budget Office, Director of Welfare and Labor Budget, Director of Fiscal Management, Administrative Budget Review Officer at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and Social Budget Review Officer. He also served as Policy Planning Officer at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, where he helped establish policies to strengthen the social safety net.
During the Park Geun-hye administration, he was appointed Deputy Minister-level Second Deputy Secretary at the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and in the current administration, he became Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, making him an unusual case of retention across administrations.
He is a high school junior of Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon and a classmate in Political Science and Diplomacy at Yonsei University with former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Hyun-mi, who is from Jeongeup, Jeonbuk. He was selected three times by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance labor union as a "Boss to Emulate," earning a place in the Hall of Fame.
