Kim In-ho, Chairman of Seoul Metropolitan Council, "Resigned 10 Years Ago Due to Conflict with the Council, This Time Expecting a Communicative Attitude"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 14th, the chairperson group and standing committee chairpersons of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, including Chairperson Kim In-ho, met with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and key heads of departments at the Seoul City Hall conference room for a briefing on current issues. They engaged in a dialogue pledging to communicate and cooperate with each other to restore public welfare.
Chairperson Kim stated, "The city council has made a bold decision regarding the current agenda and issues surrounding the mayor," adding, "Since the mayor has experienced resigning due to conflicts with the city council 10 years ago, I hope he will show a communicative attitude this time," and emphasized, "The city council will always cooperate if the policies are for the citizens."
In response, Mayor Oh said, "There are concerns about conflicts between the executive branch and the city council, but local autonomous administration is about daily life administration, so it is different from central politics," and added, "If we focus on citizen happiness and resolving inconveniences and work together, I believe we can show the citizens 'new hope.' I will humble myself, listen carefully, and seek cooperation."
The chairperson group and standing committee chairpersons of the Seoul Metropolitan Council present at the meeting urged, "A cautious approach is necessary for rapid diagnostic kits to avoid discord with the central government," and conveyed to the executive side their intention to unite efforts and communicate to revive public welfare.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of the Seoul Metropolitan Council decided at a members' meeting the previous day to postpone the 'administrative investigation related to the Naegok-dong Bogeumjari Housing District' concerning Mayor Oh and, considering his recent inauguration, also decided not to proceed with city administration questions.
