Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun Tests Negative for COVID-19... Resumes Some Schedule
One Participant at the Inauguration Press Conference on the 8th Tests Positive
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] On the 8th, at a press conference held in the press room of Busan City Hall, Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun, who sat next to a confirmed COVID-19 case and underwent testing, received a negative result.
According to Busan City on the 13th, Mayor Park held an inauguration commemorative meeting in the press room of Busan City Hall on the 8th, the day after the April 7 by-election, during which one of the attending reporters was recently confirmed positive.
The reporter is known to have been confirmed positive after getting tested following a visit to a pub where a confirmed case had occurred at the end of last month.
In response, Busan City recommended group testing for all 20 or so people who attended the meeting, including Mayor Park, the Deputy Mayor, heads of departments and bureaus at City Hall, and reporters.
Mayor Park underwent both rapid diagnostic and specimen tests that morning, and both results came back negative.
He had previously canceled all afternoon municipal schedules but resumed some activities after receiving the negative test results.
