Hyundai Motor Forms Strategic Partnership with Uber in Europe to Promote Kona and Ioniq EVs
Uber Plans to Transition to a Zero-Emission Mobility Platform by 2030... Strengthening Collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor Europe Regional Headquarters announced on the 12th (local time) that it has signed a strategic partnership with ride-sharing service company Uber to strengthen mobility services within Europe.
Under this partnership, Hyundai Motor will offer significant discounts on the Kona Electric and Ioniq Electric to Uber taxi drivers in the UK, France, the Netherlands, and other regions.
The collaboration between the two companies follows Uber's announcement of its plan to become a zero-emission mobility platform by 2030. As part of this policy, Uber aims to operate 50% of the driving distance of Uber taxis in seven European capitals (Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Paris) with electric vehicles by 2025.
Michael Cole, Head of Hyundai Motor Europe Regional Headquarters and CEO, stated, "Through this partnership, we will enable Uber’s partner drivers to switch to electric vehicles," adding, "Hyundai Motor will not only be able to showcase the advantages of the Ioniq EV and Kona EV models to a wide range of customers but also contribute to decarbonization efforts in major cities across Europe."
Anabel Diaz, Uber’s Head of Europe, said, "This strategic alliance with Hyundai Motor will advance platform electrification across Europe, making it easier and more affordable for drivers to switch to Hyundai Motor’s flagship electric vehicle models."
