Musical 'Beetlejuice' First Licensed Performance Confirms Jung Sung-hwa as Lead Actor
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Musical actor Jung Sung-hwa has been confirmed as the lead for the first licensed performance of the musical 'Beetlejuice.'
According to Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and CJ ENM on the 13th, Jung Sung-hwa has been cast as the lead in 'Beetlejuice,' which will open on June 18 at the Sejong Center Grand Theater.
Jung Sung-hwa has portrayed a wide range of significant and groundbreaking roles, including independence activist Ahn Jung-geun in the musical 'Hero,' Jean Valjean in 'Les Mis?rables,' Don Quixote in 'Man of La Mancha,' Wolha in 'Gwanghwamun Sonata,' and Lola in 'Kinky Boots.'
Jung Sung-hwa said, "I am honored to participate in the Korean premiere of this sensational production that caused a huge sensation on Broadway," adding, "I am continuously contemplating how I can present my own unique 'Beetlejuice'."
The musical 'Beetlejuice' is an adaptation of director Tim Burton's early representative film 'Beetlejuice (Ghost Class).' Produced by Warner Bros., it premiered on Broadway in April 2019. The story revolves around a ghost couple who, when a strange family moves into their newlywed home, enlist the ghost 'Beetlejuice' to drive them away in a unique tale.
