"Surgery Fee of 20 Million Won Left Behind"… Police Traveled 10km to Return It
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The police tracked the real-time location of a city bus through an app and helped recover 20 million won that an elderly man in his 80s had left on the bus, money he had saved for surgery.
According to the Busan Police Agency on the 12th, a report was received around 11:50 a.m. that day stating, "I left the money for spinal surgery on the bus."
The reporter, an 80-year-old man identified as Mr. A, had left 20 million won in cash, which he had painstakingly saved for his spinal surgery, on the bus seat and got off.
The police reassured Mr. A, who was anxious that the money might have disappeared, and took him into the patrol car.
The police installed the city bus app on their phone and tracked the bus location in real time as they pursued it.
After driving 10 km in the patrol car, the police found the bus in Jung-gu, stopped it, and retrieved the bag.
This was just 15 minutes after the loss report was filed.
Inside the bag, the cash wrapped in newspaper was intact.
The police said, "Mr. A expressed his gratitude by bowing deeply and said that if it were not for the police, he might not have been able to undergo the surgery."
