Our Startup Technology Showcased on Gaudi Architectural Sites
Seoul Startup Hub Hosts Program for Innovative Technology Startups to Enter Spanish Testbed
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The architectural works of Antoni Gaudi, listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, and two of Barcelona's largest shopping malls will become stages for the debut of innovative technologies from our startups.
Seoul Startup Hub (CEO Jang Young-seung) announced on the 12th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea International Trade Association (Chairman Koo Ja-yeol) for an overseas proof of concept (PoC) testbed in Spain, and plans to promote the testbed project by making Barcelona, Spain a global scale-up stage for our startups. Seoul Startup Hub has completed consultations with local shopping mall and landmark facility operators where the testbed will be implemented.
This testbed project will first be piloted at 'Gl?ries,' the largest shopping mall in Barcelona's innovation district, and then expand the stage to famous shopping centers and Gaudi's architectural works.
Accordingly, Seoul Startup Hub is recruiting startups that can test innovative technologies at three representative complex facilities in Barcelona. The recruitment fields include sustainable solutions, logistics, customer management, and customization technologies. Selected startups will conduct on-site PoC for about two months starting in June, and will be provided with local technology verification support funds of up to 15 million KRW per company, as well as matching with local investors and buyers.
Seoul Startup Hub plans to accelerate support for startup globalization by combining its own excellent incubation company network with the Korea International Trade Association's database of over 8,000 startups and know-how in overseas expansion support. Lee Tae-hoon, head of the Startup Division at Seoul Business Agency, said, "This will be a great opportunity for domestic startups with excellent technologies to scale up globally," adding, "Starting with Barcelona, we will continuously strengthen support for startups' global expansion."
