View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] The number of new domestic COVID-19 cases in South Korea has dropped back to the 600s after just one day.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced on the 9th at midnight that 671 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed domestically, bringing the total to 108,269.
Of these, 644 cases were domestic transmissions and 27 were imported from overseas.
By region, Seoul reported 214 cases, Gyeonggi 197, and Incheon 39, with the metropolitan area totaling 450 cases, accounting for 69.9% of all domestic cases.
Non-metropolitan areas reported a total of 194 cases: Busan 50, Daejeon 26, Jeonbuk 22, Daegu and Chungnam 17 each, Gyeongnam 15, Ulsan and Jeonnam 9 each, Chungbuk and Gyeongbuk 7 each, Gwangju and Sejong 5 each, Gangwon 3, and Jeju 2.
Among the 27 imported cases, 7 were identified during quarantine, and the remaining 20 were confirmed in the local community. There were 12 Korean nationals and 15 foreigners.
The number of critically ill patients is 113, and the death toll increased by 6 the previous day, totaling 1,764 deaths. The number of newly released from isolation increased by 426, bringing the total to 98,786.
The number of suspected cases tested was 46,692, and 39,361 tests were conducted at temporary screening clinics set up in the metropolitan area, with 118 confirmed positive. The total number of tests conducted was 86,053.

View original imageAccording to the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, as of midnight on the same day, 36,599 people received the COVID-19 vaccine, bringing the total number of first-dose recipients to 1,113,666. The number of new second-dose vaccinations was 9,490, with a total of 52,136 people having completed the second dose.
Among them, 911,228 received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 202,438 received the Pfizer vaccine.
The number of reported suspected adverse reactions after COVID-19 vaccination increased by 159 cases the previous day, totaling 11,468 cases.
Two deaths and four suspected severe cases were newly reported.

Of the 159 cases, 153 were common side effects after vaccination such as muscle pain, headache, fever, chills, and nausea.
