Groundbreaking Ceremony for Knowledge Industry Center at 6BL, Godeok Biz Valley on the 8th... The Largest Knowledge Industry Center Solely Established in Southeast Seoul
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will officially begin the construction of the knowledge industry center on the 6BL self-sufficient facility site in Godeok Biz Valley (area 343-2, Godeok-dong) with a groundbreaking ceremony on the 8th.
The site was finally selected last April as the 6th land supply target by the Kyobo Securities consortium, and it will host the first standalone knowledge industry center in the southeastern region of Seoul. The site covers an area of 10,195㎡, with a total floor area of 70,713㎡ (4 basement floors and 20 above-ground floors), making it the largest in the southeastern part of Seoul.
Gyeryong Construction Industry, part of the consortium, will undertake the construction. Scheduled for completion in 2023, the knowledge industry center is expected to significantly contribute to the development of the regional economic base by attracting excellent companies such as SMEs and venture firms based on advanced industries, establishing a startup platform, and promoting coexistence with the local community.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “In 2023, when the three core projects?‘Godeok Biz Valley,’ ‘Gangdong General Industrial Complex,’ and ‘Advanced Business Complex’?are completed, Gangdong-gu will be reborn as the economic center city of the eastern metropolitan area. Today’s groundbreaking ceremony for the knowledge industry center, the largest in eastern Seoul, will be a symbolic moment marking the starting point.”
Meanwhile, Godeok Biz Valley (234,523㎡), which will lead Gangdong-gu as the economic center city of eastern Seoul, will house companies in the information and communication technology convergence R&D sector, government offices, and shopping malls. About 150 companies are expected to move in starting from 2022, with 38 companies already confirmed.

The final 8th land supply is currently underway, and business plans for two self-sufficient facility sites (Self-sufficient 1-4, Self-sufficient 1-6) are being accepted until April 19.
