Naju Mayor Kang In-gyu and Gwangjeon Labor Union Join Forces for 'Mutual Development'
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Naju City in Jeollanam-do collaborated with the Labor Union Council of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovation City Relocated Institutions (hereinafter Gwangjeonnohyeop) to address major local issues.
According to the city on the 8th, Mayor Kang In-gyu held a communication meeting on the 6th at the small conference room of the city hall with about 10 people, including Jang Jae-young, chairman of Gwangjeonnohyeop, and labor union chairpersons of the relocated institutions.
The meeting was organized to discuss cooperation measures at the Gwangjeonnohyeop level through sharing the current status ahead of the administrative lawsuit with Korea District Heating Corporation regarding the operation of the SRF combined heat and power plant in the Naju New Industrial Complex.
They also listened to residents' grievances about living conditions such as odors near the innovation city and sought solutions together.
Gwangjeonnohyeop proposed expanding citizen organizations to resolve the SRF combined heat and power plant issue, establishing a new governance system, hosting an e-sports tournament for the mutual development of the old downtown and innovation city, resolving issues related to the remaining land of Booyoung Golf Course, and eliminating odors.
Mayor Kang promised to actively review the proposals suggested by Gwangjeonnohyeop with priority on forming a consensus among all citizens and to establish a continuous discussion table in the future.
Mayor Kang said, “Through continuous communication with Gwangjeonnohyeop, who leads regional development, we will work together to resolve residents' inconveniences and improve them,” adding, “Since there are difficult issues that cannot be resolved in a short period, we ask for Gwangjeonnohyeop’s cooperation and understanding as a bridge for resident communication.”
