[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Like a traveling troupe, 35 arts organizations visit schools in Busan to unfold an 'art bundle.'
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seok-jun) announced on the 8th that it will operate the 'Arts Plus Visiting Schools' program targeting 507 kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools until December this year.
This program was prepared to provide students with high-quality cultural and artistic experience opportunities in various genres such as classical music, gugak (traditional Korean music), theater, and opera, which are usually difficult to access.
Thirty-five arts organizations, including the gugak group Dosirak, TDC Ensemble, Double Stage Theater Company, Make Music, Banlim, All Way Korea, Step Art Company, and Magic Q, will visit schools directly to perform.
In particular, if the COVID-19 alert level is raised, online performances will be conducted concurrently, and after the online performances, Q&A sessions and explanations about the works will also be held.
The detailed performance genres include fusion gugak, traditional gugak, classical percussion ensemble, piano sextet, Madanggeuk (traditional Korean courtyard play), puppet show, opera, street dance, and science magic.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to spend 420 million won this year to hold a total of 507 performances at kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools. This year, the program will be expanded to include infants, broadening the target audience for performances.
Additionally, to manage the quality of performances, preliminary consultations with performance groups were held, and continuous consulting on performances will be conducted through surveys at each school.
