[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] As of 11:10 PM on the 7th, the vote counting rate for the Busan mayoral by-election was tallied at 46.92%.
According to the Central Election Management Committee's election statistics system, at this time, Park Hyung-jun, the candidate from the People Power Party, received 63.03%, and Kim Young-choon, the candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, received 34.25% of the votes.
Out of 726,039 votes counted, candidate Park received 454,458 votes, and candidate Kim received 247,014 votes.
Meanwhile, exit polls conducted by broadcasting stations for the Busan mayoral by-election showed Park Hyung-jun of the People Power Party at 64.0% and Kim Young-choon of the Democratic Party of Korea at 33.0%.
The three major broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS) announced the exit poll results for the Seoul and Busan mayoral by-elections conducted by KEP (Korea Election Pool), an organization under the Korea Broadcasting Association. The surveys were conducted by three research institutions: Ipsos, Korea Research International, and Hankook Research.
