Korea Investment & Securities to Pay Additional 10% of Principal to Optimus Investors
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] Korea Investment & Securities has decided to pay an additional 10% of the principal to investors in Optimus Asset Management funds.
According to the financial investment industry on the 7th, Korea Investment & Securities will pay 10% of the principal to customers who subscribed to the Optimus fund but did not receive their principal back.
As a result, investors who invested in the Optimus fund through Korea Investment & Securities will be able to recover their entire principal. Korea Investment & Securities had paid 70% of the principal in July last year and 20% in September. The total size of the Optimus fund sold by Korea Investment & Securities and suspended for redemption is 28.7 billion KRW.
A Korea Investment & Securities official said, "At the time of the advance payment, we decided to pay the difference if the Financial Supervisory Service Dispute Mediation Committee (Dispute Committee) recommends a return rate higher than 90% of the principal, meaning we fulfill our moral responsibility," adding, "The remaining 10% is planned to be paid by April."
