According to Gangjin-gun, at the meeting, attended by 16 people including heads of related departments and divisions and the Gangjin Office of Education, various opinions were presented, such as discussing sector-specific promotion plans for recruiting rural students, providing housing for family-type students, vacant house maintenance projects, securing facilities due to the lack of center-type study abroad program operation facilities, and producing promotional YouTube videos for indirect rural study abroad experiences.
The Rural Student Recruitment Promotion Team, formed last month with Vice-Gun Chief Lee Sang-sim as the head, operates with a total of three teams: the General Team, the Working Team, and the Infrastructure Team, to strategically respond to rural student recruitment tasks.
To save local schools facing closure due to a sharp decline in students caused by low birth rates, a Small School Revitalization Promotion Committee will be formed in all towns and townships in April to actively recruit students together with local residents.
In addition, aiming to attract student families, the program will actively support the operation of rural study abroad programs by providing housing environments and jobs in cooperation with the Gangjin Office of Education, so that families can heal and live together in Gangjin.
