According to Gwangju City on the 7th, two people were diagnosed positive as of the previous day and were classified as Gwangju cases 2227 and 2228.
Case 2227 is a professor at a university in Gwangju who developed symptoms such as fever starting on the 3rd and underwent diagnostic testing at a screening clinic on the 5th.
The source of his infection has not yet been identified.
It was confirmed that the professor conducted lectures for students until the 1st, before the onset of COVID-19 prodromal symptoms.
Health authorities conducted an on-site investigation at the university building where the professor's research office is located and closed some floors of the building.
A total of 39 people, including 36 students who attended his classes and 3 faculty members, were classified as contacts and underwent diagnostic testing.
On the previous day, one person (Gwangju case 2228), related to Daejeon case 1311, who was infected in the nth generation from a PC room in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, also tested positive.
From the 5th, there have been three cumulative confirmed cases related to Daejeon case 1311 over two consecutive days.
