Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Operates Memorial Period for the 7th Anniversary of the Sewol Ferry Disaster

This Sewol Ferry memorial event will be conducted autonomously according to the characteristics of institutions and schools, considering the COVID-19 situation, as was done last year.
Additionally, a cyber memorial hall will be operated during the memorial silent prayer and memorial period, and frontline schools will continue the memorial atmosphere through occasion education conducted within the curriculum.
The Office of Education has provided detailed guidance on memorial event materials, teaching materials, and video materials that can be utilized in schools, enabling education on the values of human rights, peace, and respect for life through subjects and creative experiential activities.
Superintendent Jang Seok-woong plans to attend the "7th Anniversary Remembrance and Resolution Event of the Sewol Ferry Disaster" held on the 16th at Mokpo New Port, hosted by the "Sewol Ferry Never Forget Mokpo Regional Joint Action Committee."

Lee Byung-sam, Director of Democratic Citizenship Life Education Division, stated, “This year’s 7th anniversary memorial event for the Sewol Ferry disaster will be conducted independently by each education support office such as Mokpo and Jindo, as well as by individual schools,” and added, “The Office of Education will focus on supporting frontline schools to conduct value education effectively within their curricula.”
