According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 6th, as of 2 p.m. that day, Professor A at a university in Gwangju was confirmed positive and classified as Gwangju case number 2227.
Professor A developed symptoms such as fever starting from the 3rd and underwent a diagnostic test at a screening clinic the previous day.
The route of infection has not yet been identified.
It is understood that Professor A conducted lectures for students until the 1st, before the onset of COVID-19 prodromal symptoms.
Health authorities conducted an on-site investigation at the university building where Professor A’s research office is located on the morning of the same day.
Currently, some floors of the building have been temporarily closed, and disinfection has been completed.
Diagnostic tests are underway for 39 individuals, including 36 students who attended Professor A’s classes and 3 faculty and staff members in the same building.
