Myanmar Military Releases at Least 8 Civilians in 'Foreign Media Interview'
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] It has been reported that the Myanmar military has released at least eight of the more than ten citizens detained for participating in interviews with foreign media.
On the 5th (local time), CNN cited an anonymous source, reporting, "At least eight of the 11 people detained after interviewing with our reporters were released today."
According to local media and major foreign news outlets, more than ten citizens who responded to CNN's coverage or took photos in Yangon on the 2nd were detained in military facilities immediately after the interviews.
CNN reported, "Within 3 to 5 minutes after the interview ended and the press team left, armed plainclothes police officers took the citizens away."
Earlier, on the 4th, military spokesperson Cho Min Tun acknowledged in an interview with CNN that 11 people who had contact with the press team were detained.

When asked, "What crimes did the detained citizens commit?" Spokesperson Tun replied, "They did not break the law. However, they were detained because they could provoke those around them and incite protests."
