Ministry of Science and ICT Appoints Directors of National Gwangju, Daegu, and Busan Science Museums
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 6th that Kim Seon-ok, former head of the Jeonnam Regional Post Office, has been appointed as the 4th director of the National Gwangju Science Museum; Baek Woon-gi, head of research and development at the National Science Museum, as the 5th director of the National Daegu Science Museum; and Kim Young-hwan, former vice mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, as the 3rd director of the National Busan Science Museum.
According to relevant regulations, the directors of these regional national science museums are appointed by the Minister of Science and ICT after review and recommendation by each Director Recommendation Committee. The term of office is three years from the date of appointment.
Kim Seon-ok, the newly appointed director of the National Gwangju Science Museum, previously served as head of the Jeonnam Regional Post Office, exhibition research director at the National Science Museum, and was responsible for the establishment of the National Daegu and Gwangju Science Museums as well as policies for fostering science museums.
Baek Woon-gi, the newly appointed director of the National Daegu Science Museum, is a science museum expert who worked for about 30 years at the National Science Museum, holding various positions in exhibition, education, and research, and previously served as head of the exhibition research headquarters at the National Daegu Science Museum.

Kim Young-hwan, the newly appointed director of the National Busan Science Museum, has served as the economic vice mayor of Busan Metropolitan City and president of Busan Urban Corporation. He oversaw the development of the Osiria Tourist Complex, where the Busan Science Museum is located, and managed major science and technology policies in the Busan area.
