Strengthening Public Responsibility: "We Will Lay the Foundation for a New Future"
KBS is recruiting new personnel to strengthen its public service responsibilities.
On the 5th, KBS President Yang Seung-dong stated through the company newsletter, "We are preparing a plan to recruit about 600 new personnel over the next five years to strengthen and expand KBS's public service responsibilities." He added, "The next 4 to 5 years will be a decisive period for KBS to break away from the past framework and become a new future public broadcaster," and expressed his determination, saying, "The management, including myself, will continue to communicate with members and lay the foundation for a new future." This plan will be put to a vote once the board of directors completes its review.
On the same day, as part of efforts to increase the license fee, KBS also implemented an organizational restructuring plan that consolidates about 60 departments, divisions, and teams. The number of key positions such as directors, division heads, and team leaders was reduced by 12%. Based on the calculated appropriate personnel for each department, KBS plans to reduce about 580 personnel (excluding regional staff) by 2024.
