Dongdaemun-gu Opens 'Indian Humanities Travel' Lecture Series
HUFS India Research Institute Collaboration: Launch of 'Humanities Travel in India' Course
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) will operate a specialized program linked with the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies India Research Institute starting April 8 to provide various educational programs to residents.
The specialized program offers a lecture titled "Journey through Indian Humanities," which explores Indian philosophy and culture.
Since signing an agreement with the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies India Research Institute in August 2019, the first among basic local governments nationwide, Dongdaemun-gu has annually operated high-quality educational programs such as ▲Wisdom of India: Self and Happiness ▲Indian Literature and Human Stories ▲Indian World Cultural Heritage through Keywords.
This year's "Journey through Indian Humanities" lecture consists of a total of eight sessions, covering ancient Indian civilization, Mahatma Gandhi, South Indian society and culture, as well as profound Indian philosophy and literature, taught by a faculty team from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
"Journey through Indian Humanities" will be conducted as an online real-time non-face-to-face class using the video conferencing platform "ZOOM" to enable immediate communication with instructors.
Participants can join via smartphone or PC, and residents wishing to enroll must apply by 1 PM on April 7 through the Dongdaemun-gu Lifelong Learning Center website (Lifelong Learning Courses → Course Application).
Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol stated, "We will provide differentiated lifelong learning specialized programs directly involving expert faculty from prestigious local universities to realize a lifelong learning city that opens the dreams of our residents."
