'Repeated Drunk Driving Without License'... 50s Habitual Drunk and Unlicensed Offender Sentenced to Prison in Appeal Trial
10 Criminal Convictions for Drunk or Unlicensed Driving
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] A repeat offender in his 50s with a history of habitual drunk driving and driving without a license was sentenced to prison again in the appellate court.
The Criminal Division 1 of Chuncheon District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Cheong-mi) announced on the 3rd that it dismissed the appeal of A (57), who was charged with drunk driving and driving without a license under the Road Traffic Act, and sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months in prison as in the original trial.
In the judgment, the court pointed out, "Since 2000, he has served three prison sentences for drunk driving and has been criminally punished 10 times for drunk or unlicensed driving, and committed the crime again during the probation period."
It added, "Not only did he cause an accident, but his blood alcohol concentration was high, posing a great risk to public safety, and the sentence of the original trial appears appropriate."
Previously, the first trial court sentenced him to prison, stating, "He committed this crime during the probation period for similar offenses."
