[AKYUNG Poll] 6 out of 10 Busan Citizens Say 'Regime Judgment' Needed
[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Regarding the April 7 Busan mayoral by-election, the public opinion favoring 'regime judgment' appeared twice as high as that favoring 'regime stability.'
In a public opinion survey conducted by Asia Economy through Win-G Korea Consulting on the 30th and 31st of last month targeting 1,012 voters aged 18 and over in Busan Metropolitan City (100% ARS wireless virtual number, sampling error ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level), 63.1% responded that "the opposition party must win to judge the regime" when asked about the nature of this election. Considering that 29.6% responded that "the ruling party must win for stable national administration," there was a twofold difference.
The regime judgment theory showed high rates regardless of gender, with men at 63.9% and women at 62.4%. By age group, it led across all ages, especially among those aged 70 and over (79.4%) and those in their 60s (76.5%), with over 75% supporting regime judgment. This was followed by ages 18-29 (59.7%), 50s (58.8%), 30s (55.5%), and 40s (50.0%).
By region, more than 60% across all of Busan supported regime judgment. Northern Busan (Geumjeong-gu, Yeonje-gu, Dongnae-gu) had the highest at 68.5%, followed by Central Busan (Busanjin-gu, Dong-gu, Seo-gu, Jung-gu, Yeongdo-gu) at 64.8%, Western Busan (Buk-gu, Gangseo-gu, Saha-gu, Sasang-gu) at 61.1%, and Eastern Busan (Haeundae-gu, Suyeong-gu, Gijang-gun, Nam-gu) at 60.1%.
