Electronic Monitoring Bracelet-Wearing 'Second Jo Doo-soon' Arrested for Attempted Molestation Two Months After Release
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] A man who was previously imprisoned for a sex crime and released wearing an electronic ankle bracelet was arrested again for attempting another sex crime just two months after being released from prison.
According to a JTBC Newsroom report on the 1st, Mr. A was caught by the police on the 30th of last month in Dong-gu, Gwangju, for forcibly attempting to molest a woman he did not know.
Mr. A chased the woman up to the stairs of her one-room apartment around 7 p.m. that day and tried to molest her.
When a resident witnessed this, Mr. A fled to his nearby home.
The police, after receiving a report, checked closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and arrested Mr. A.
When the police apprehended Mr. A at the scene, he was wearing an electronic ankle bracelet.
Investigations revealed that Mr. A had a prior record of being sentenced to 9 years and 8 months in prison for molesting and sexually assaulting six women, including three minors, 10 years ago.

In this incident, Mr. A threatened and assaulted the victim before attempting the sex crime, which was similar to the method he used in his previous offenses.
Earlier, the Ministry of Justice selected seven 'high-risk sex offenders' scheduled to be released this year amid growing social anxiety over the release of child sex offender Jo Doo-soon in September last year. Among them, four were assigned 'one-on-one probation officers,' and Mr. A was identified as one of them.
